Event Summary

Nel Unlit will be playing their debut Sheffield show at Shakespear's to celebrate the release of their debut album Wake for the Dreaming, a rock-opera based on Worlds' End from Neil Gaiman's epic Sandman graphic novel series.
The album has been produced and mixed by the band with the help of Peter Brewis of Mercury Prize nominated Field Music and will be released on February 14th 2020 on Butterfly Effect (vinyl) and Spooker Rekkids with single True Things preceding it on January 17th 2020. The album features a cast of singers, each playing a role within the story, including, Tom Joshua, Our Krypton Son, Dressed Like Wolves and Before Breakfast.
Nel Unlit are a group of nine songwriters, storytellers and musicians who have their roots all over the North East of England and Northern Ireland. Despite the idea for the project brewing for 7 years, the band officially formed in 2016, from past and present members of Sullivan and Gold, Dressed Like Wolves, Pellethead, General Sherman and Hold Music and began making music in the attic of musical institution Westgarth Social Club.

Support comes from Sheffield's own Before Breakfast who weave strong melodies with piano, cello and vocal harmonies to create an authentic and accomplished sound that is drawn from a wealth of musical experience, from classical to folk, and are inspired by artists including Bjork and Marika Hackman. Before Breakfast have a strong sense of meaning, telling intimate stories about being a woman that resonate with people of all stages of life.

The band recently supported C Duncan on his Spring 2019 UK Headline tour. Previous support shows include Tokio Myers at Shepherd's Bush Empire, The Sage and Albert Hall, Manchester on his UK tour and have worked with Reverend And The Makers, Jon Boden, The Dunwells and Renegade Brass Band.
