Barnfest Online - Walnut Grove Farm

Arts & Crafts

Event Summary

Historic Walnut Grove Farm is sponsoring a virtual sale featuring accomplished regional artists in an online art event this year, given the cancellation of the Knox County Scenic Drive.

Event Description

Barn Fest Online Celebrates Art Virtually!

Historic Walnut Grove Farm has created a safe shopping experience this year to replace the Knox County Scenic Drive. Due to the COVID 19 hazards, the Scenic Drive was canceled as an in-person event. And so to support the many artists who have been sheltering in place and producing great art, Walnut Grove Farm’s website is providing an opportunity for regional artists to showcase and sell their art by linking to: www.VirtualBarnEvents.com.

This 44th anniversary of the Knox County Scenic Drive ushers in a grand and brand-new alternative for the traditional artisans at this juried show of fine arts and craftspeople. The virtual Barn Fest’s online art sale is now live and continues until October 31st. And the Kids-Rock-The-Arts annual contest, co-sponsored with Block Art Materials and the Galesburg Civic Art Center, will also be virtual this year. For more information go to www.kidsrockthearts.com and click on the contest link.

Artists have shown added creativity to rethink how they present themselves to their customers and art fans during the COVID 19 crisis. This online art sale was an idea that for months has been on the agenda of the Walnut Grove Farm Artisans who are the planning group called the The Barn Pals. The arts and craft media that will be represented during the online sale include: wood carving, weaving, felting, painting, jewelry-making, photography, soap-making, pottery, fiber art, herb crafting and graphic design. This supportive network of artists has helped each other navigate technology, share marketing ideas and photograph work for posting. They are enthused about reaching their audience in a different way that is safe, fun and can still communicate on a personal level.

Also during the virtual Barn Fest, the Kids Rock the Arts Contest is happening, co-sponsored by Blick Art Materials and the Galesburg Civic Art Center with Walnut Grove Farm. Illinois youth from K-12th grades are encouraged to post images of their original art to: www.kidsrockthearts.com by 3 PM, Saturday, September 28th. Blick Art Materials will provide the winners from each category with gift certificates. Further details about this youth art contest can be found at www.kidsrockthearts.com, or by calling the 309-289-4770.

Online show coordinator, Rich Wood states, “From the comfort of your home, shop great art early and often!” Check out www.VirtualBarnEvents.com for this art sale, or call (309) 289-4770.
